Techfactory AB, founded in 2017 and based in Stockholm, has quickly become a strong player in IT infrastructure, cloud services, and DevOps. In 2023, the company reached a turnover of SEK 51.3 million and today has over 20 employees. Techfactory has also received a lot of attention for its rapid growth and was named a gazelle company by Dagens Industri three years in a row: 2022, 2023, and 2024. Reputation Mastery in the AI Era

I am delighted and proud to have been invited to write this guest article for QGroup, but I am not surprised. The emergence of AI is completely changing the playing field, redefining new parameters to our most valuable professional asset: our reputation.
QGroup was probably the first company to recognise the vital importance of individual reputation. For the last eleven years, I have had the privilege of working with their consultants to analyse and develop their professional reputations. It is the most important and crucial asset you can take from one mission to the next.
One of the group founders, Mikael Kretz, wrote in the foreword to my latest book, *Let&#8217;s Talk About Reputation*: &#8220;Understanding your reputation is also the most valuable professional gift you can give yourself! We extend this practice to all our employees, seeing it as a gift for their future.&#8221;
With AI, something has changed regarding how business life and the business world work today. In these turbulent times, it&#8217;s crucial to leverage the best tools available and use them before they become indispensable.
At a time when AI is so rapidly impacting and changing the job market, our reputation as individuals has never been more important. It affects every part of our professional lives. I asked ChatGPT directly about the importance of reputation and received the following response:
&#8220;Reputation is a vital intangible asset for entrepreneurs, consultants, and leaders. It influences virtually every aspect of business operations and success, making it essential to actively cultivate and protect. It influences trust, credibility, opportunities, and long-term success. Actively managing and cultivating a positive reputation is essential for achieving and sustaining success in these roles.&#8221;
This response confirms the importance of mastering one&#8217;s reputation, but an important question today is how AI itself will affect our reputation, and I would like to highlight three areas where AI can significantly impact reputation management:

<li aria-level="1">Your expertise is taking on new and interesting parameters and is increasingly becoming the perceived level of your expertise.</li>
<li aria-level="1">Knowledge of your soft skills is becoming even more important.</li>

</ul>
Let&#8217;s realise that everything revolves around your reputation—the game-changer that can transform your professional life forever. It has implications for us as individuals, teams, and companies and can give us competitive advantages. It&#8217;s not just about understanding the role of our reputation in professional success but actively managing it to leverage its potential.
&#8216;Reputation Mastery&#8217; means focusing on combining your perceived expertise, experience, and all those crucial &#8216;soft&#8217; skills that transform your expertise into results. It&#8217;s being passionate about your area of expertise with an everlasting curiosity and commitment to always feel proud of what you deliver.

When AI Changes the Playing Field
While you may have brilliant business ideas or career strategies, their success ultimately comes down to one factor: how you are perceived—your reputation. Understanding the profound impact of this can elevate your leadership, business, career, and professional development to a new dimension. Reputation management is not just a concept but a powerful tool that, when harnessed, can transform your professional life. There is nothing more powerful, but paradoxically, it is our least known and utilised asset.
Few factors have as powerful an impact on our professional lives as AI and reputation. Together, the two are vibrant.
With the knowledge that your reputation gives you about your unique qualities, you gain the tools, platform, and often the courage to realise what you are truly capable of achieving. You can take your professional development journey to a whole new level.
However, AI will change the terms of our reputation and, therefore, our success as consultants, entrepreneurs, and leaders in many ways. The sooner you realise this and act on it, the more competitive advantage you will gain.

Your Expertise Becomes Your Perceived Expertise
Knowing your reputation is the key differentiator more than ever, especially now in the age of AI, because we will act with a different logic. There is more information out there today than anyone can really comprehend, and this trend is growing exponentially, leaving many experts stuck with yesterday&#8217;s answers. Without dedicated curiosity, more experts could become stagnant with outdated knowledge faster than ever before.
As AI&#8217;s vast knowledge is being unlocked in new ways, our expertise and how it is perceived will naturally be affected. Your expertise will have new parameters and will increasingly be about managing AI successfully and credibly, as well as how we deal with the information we receive. We refer to this as &#8216;the perceived level of your expertise,&#8217; and your reputation will be a crucial measure of it.
By being aware of every part of your reputation, you will gain a unique and crucial combination of the perceived level of your expertise or leadership and the &#8216;soft&#8217; skills that we now know to generate 85% of results.
Calling yourself a guru, a pioneer, a game-changer, or even an expert is no longer relevant or practical. But having it in your reputation is another thing entirely, allowing you to use it with both humility and pride. That is the beauty of reputation. Your reputation is simply as good as your professional environment perceives it to be.
New ways of building, expanding, and marketing yourself as an expert are needed today. I may be one-eyed, but I am convinced that your reputation will do the job.

The Soft Skills Revolution and AI
Artificial intelligence will cause massive changes and create a new era in business and the job market. At the same time, &#8216;soft&#8217; skills will be more critical than ever. Leadership, creativity, curiosity, imagination, commitment, courage, passion, empathy, and having a business mindset are just some of the areas where AI simply cannot compete. These skills make us uniquely human and will be our most valuable assets in the AI era. Knowing your reputation will always be the best and most reliable tool available to help you discover and leverage these crucial skills and talents.
To be honest, these skills are not soft; they are the skills that genuinely create results. We call them &#8216;soft&#8217; because it&#8217;s convenient and means we can then move on to something seemingly more important. But ignoring these skills is a huge mistake. Again, according to research by the World Economic Forum, Google, and LinkedIn, they generate 85% of the results.
In the Momentum podcast, Professor Kjell A. Nordström and Per Schlingmann say that it is impossible to predict how a human will behave even with all the AI in the world. We are increasingly inundated with AI-generated messages, and the more AI content we see, the more we will crave the human element.
AI will bring about a tool shift, a mind shift, and a skill shift. Everyone is talking about a skill shift in general terms, but they don&#8217;t define what it means. Understanding your reputation will be a game-changer since your reputation will give you a huge opportunity to stand out as unique. It&#8217;s about rethinking consulting, stepping up, creating added value, doing more meaningful work, and being more creative.
Even Your Bugs Can Be a Forerunner of Your Future Success
Four years ago, I removed the concept of weaknesses from my vocabulary and reputation analysis, replacing it with bugs. I was inspired by the apps on our smartphones that are released in beta and, of course, have bugs. These bugs are natural and are updated over time with the aim of achieving excellence.
It&#8217;s the same with you and me. When we move forward and do something new, there are bugs; they are also natural and can be updated in different ways. With the incredibly fast pace of change in the age of AI, there will undoubtedly be bugs, and some of your bugs could develop into the success factors that make you unique. It&#8217;s an exciting thought!
Reid Hoffman, a co-founder of LinkedIn, expressed similar thoughts in his book &#8220;The Startup of You.&#8221; He wrote that if you are not embarrassed by the first version you release, you have released it too late.

The Hybrid Consultant is Measured by Their Reputation
As AI transforms the market, the concept of hybrid consultants is emerging, where your expertise takes on a whole new set of parameters, and your reputation becomes the real measure. You have a unique reputation built on your often broad expertise, where you also see the bigger picture.
The concept of hybrid consultants is about the vital balance between technology and humans, the balance between the perceived level of your expertise and the soft skills that generate 85% of the results. A consultant&#8217;s reputation becomes both the benchmark and the tool to manage it effectively.
Something is rapidly changing in business today. I am meeting more and more consultants and entrepreneurs who talk about finding new ways to show their true value to attract new clients, contracts, talent, or investors.
We will likely see an increasing distinction between &#8216;title consultants&#8217; and &#8216;reputation consultants.&#8217; The former are more traditionally based on their title and the historical facts of what they have achieved, and the latter on their knowledge of their reputation in their market and what they can achieve in the future. Of course, the optimum is a combination of the two.
Knowing your reputation is the key because it sums up your actions and achievements in past years. It indicates your capacity and creates expectations about what you can achieve. It is crucial information that people are looking for, and we need to start showing it concretely. It all revolves around your reputation.
It&#8217;s about challenging the mediocre, focusing on an area where your talent, passion, and commitment come together to create something great. It&#8217;s letting go of the ambition to be the best, aiming for mastery, becoming unique, and not comparing yourself to anyone instead.

I see many people gaining the tools and courage to elevate themselves to a whole new professional level by understanding the key factors that build their reputation and how they can interact in new ways in the era of AI.

The framework agreement runs over two years, with the possibility of extension for four more years, and is estimated to have a value of SEK 51 million. Arcade Sundown

Through its associated company, Fully Studios, the gaming segment has become another leg for Qgroup, where cooperation with major players such as Toca Boca and developing its own games are highly topical.

Qgroup Gets Established in the Gaming Segment 

Since the beginning of 2022, Qgroup has been a partner in the Di Gasell company Fully Studios &#8211; an award-winning Swedish studio in Gothenburg and Stockholm that offers web and app development services, film, and games.
The game segment (video games, gaming) is growing strongly. Today, Fully Studios has a business that partly caters to customers who order game development assignments and partly has its own studio that develops unique games.
To be able to deliver top-class services, Fully Studios has brought experienced game developers into its team. Since 2014, Qgroup has awarded selected students with the Qgroup Scholarship. Recipients are graduates of the Master&#8217;s Program in Entrepreneurship &amp; Innovation at Lund University.
This year, the Qgroup Scholarship is awarded to Marama (Adriaan Lombard, Ayesha Khalid, and Ruben Van den Berg) for the following reasons:

The entrepreneur and business angel Linda Bjernstål has been appointed as a new board member of QCG Sweden AB (Qgroup).

Linda Bjernstål Joins Qgroup's Board of Directors

Linda Bjernstål, born in 1976, grew up on the outskirts of Helsingborg and has an entrepreneurial background. She founded and ran the travel site Flygstolen.se, which she sold after just over a decade to make further investments as an entrepreneur and business angel.
Linda has received several awards for her success as an entrepreneur, including Dagens Industri&#8217;s desirable designation &#8220;Digital Gazelle of the Year&#8221; in 2015. Linda has experience in board work from her own companies and from Handelsbanken in Helsingborg and Ängelholm-Helsingborg Airport. She has also been a senior advisor to the logistics company NoWaste.

Qgroup acquires an additional 21 percent of Dynabyte AB and thus becomes the company's majority owner.

Qgroup becomes the majority owner of Dynabyte AB

Dynabyte is a Stockholm-based IT consulting company at the forefront of digital change for almost two decades. In 2022, the company had a turnover of SEK 38 million with a profit of just over 15 percent.
Qgroup saw the potential in the company early on and became a partner in Dynabyte AB as early as 2020. The next step in the business occurs when Qgroup acquires another 21 percent and thus becomes the majority owner with a total of 51 percent.

The Swedish IT group Qgroup continues growing in Sweden and globally. The latest establishment occurs through a new office in Västerås, where the subsidiary Qrew opens.
Qrew today runs its operations from Gothenburg with 24 employees. The company has had app and web development as its primary focus. The office in Västerås will broaden Qrew&#8217;s range of services with niche IT services for industrial companies.

Qgroup Supports the Next-Generation Coral Reef Restoration Projects in Indonesia

In Lombok, Indonesia, <a href="http://www.giliecotrust.com">Gili Eco Trust</a> is working towards creating a sustainable island where tourism works in cohort with the environment and animals by creating the next-generation reefs and replenishing fish populations. The core idea is to combine the new technological advancements in reef restoration with a holistic approach to making the 1000 people island-community sustainable regarding recycling and material use.
Qgroup recognizes this effort as a pilot project on a new approach to combining tourism with a sustainable society. The island&#8217;s environmental challenges are enormous today, with global warming, waste management, and overfishing, just to mention a few.
The Eco Trust started in 2002 and has, over the years, created 35 different biorocks, which are artificial reefs, that today are bringing new life to the underwater world around the island. The biorock technology is a novel technique in which specially designed underwater steel structures are placed on the seafloor (5-25 meters) with low voltage direct current continuously passing through them. By doing this, new coral reefs are growing faster and becoming more resilient to coral bleaching and global warming than natural formations. This, in turn, allows the natural fauna of sea life to recover to what it once was around the islands.
As well as implementing this new technology, the trust is also educating and collaborating with local entrepreneurs to use a modern approach to waste management and fishing limits in a joint cause to maximize the common profit.
To support this project, Qgroup initially supported three volunteers with dive equipment to allow them to become underwater reef gardeners and biorock students in the Eco Trust program. The volunteer program starts in May 2023 and reaches over three months.

Qgroup enters Japan

Since launching ten years ago, the Swedish IT group Qgroup has grown to become one of Sweden&#8217;s leaders in the IT industry. Qgroup also runs operations in Europe, Asia, and the USA, and the group currently has over 800 specialist consultants in ten countries.
Now Qgroup is opening its first office in Tokyo, Japan, marking the company&#8217;s ambition to grow internationally. The company&#8217;s name will be AtaraQi by Qgroup and will initially focus on consulting services within cyber security.
Andreas Petersen, establishment manager, comments: 
&#8220;Japan is an exciting market helping to drive development in certain parts of the IT sector, and we have looked at establishing ourselves here for quite some time. We have finally reached our goal now when establishing our new company and office. New times for data

<h3>Qlose is the new name of the recruitment firm that demonstrates Qgroup’s vision to spark 
innovation in the industry.</h3>
Qgroup&#8217;s business concept is to individually select the best IT consultants in the industry, which the partly owned recruitment company Onyx has worked with on behalf of the group.
Now Onyx is being merged with the recruitment company 6Degrees, which has also distinguished itself as an innovator in the IT and tech segment. Together they create a recruitment business under a new common name &#8211; Qlose.
Qlose will invest in recruitment, consultant recruitment and consultancy for the IT industry and at the same time create a completely new platform for its candidates. The way of working is characterized by a mindset that has similarities with an agency that works actively for its candidates throughout their careers.

Qgroup invests in IT consultant CoreChange

<h3>Following the transaction, Qgroup owns 25 percent of the shares in the parent company CoreChange Group AB.</h3>
CoreChange was founded in 2013 and is a fast-growing IT consulting company with operations in Stockholm and Gothenburg. In 2021, the company had sales of approximately SEK 160 million and more than 100 employees. The business concept is to drive their customers&#8217; digital journey of change &#8211; from strategy to implementation and realization. The basic offer includes consulting services, primarily in business systems and e-commerce for customers in both the private and public sectors.
The investment in CoreChange means that Qgroup buys 25 percent of the parent company&#8217;s shares. The transaction takes place through a new share issue, which at the same time ensures the CoreChange Group&#8217;s continued expansion going forward.

“Qgroup entered 2021 with self-confidence and is now reporting a record year straight through, which really focused on the importance of both delivering good profitability and at the same time investing for the future and in the technologies that are changing our industry.
In 2021, Qgroup increased its net sales by almost 27 percent to SEK 506 million (399) and significantly improved operating profit to just over SEK 50 million (15). There is obviously a great need for our consultants’ expertise in the market.
Under the theme “Shaping the new way of consulting,” our annual report describes the Qgroup Group’s strategy and the activities that made 2021 a record year. The report also shows how Qgroup’s basic philosophy &#8211; to start and develop successful companies around people and their skills &#8211; has led to a record number of new recruits and highly motivated consultants who think new and where the word “impossible” does not exist. ”Qgroup gick in i 2021 med gott självförtroende och rapporterar nu ett rekordår rakt igenom, som verkligen satte fokus på betydelsen av att både leverera en god lönsamhet och samtidigt investera för framtiden och i de teknologier som förändrar vår bransch. Qgroup ökade sin nettoomsättning med nästan 27 procent till 562 miljoner kronor (399) och förbättrade rörelseresultatet avsevärt till drygt 50 miljoner kronor (15). Det finns uppenbarligen ett stort behov av våra konsulters kompetens på marknaden.
Under temat ”Shaping the new way of consulting” beskriver vår årsredovisning Qgroup-koncernens strategi och de aktiviteter som gjorde att 2021 blev ett rekordår. Rapporten visar också på hur Qgroups grundfilosofi &#8211; att starta och ut­veckla framgångsrika bolag runt människor och deras kompetens – har lett till ett rekord i antal nya rekryter och högt motiverade konsul­ter som tänker nytt och där ordet ”omöjligt” inte existerar. Totalt anslöt över 181 medarbetare till Qgroup, vilket är en fördubbling i antal rekryterade jämfört med året innan.
I stort sett var alla våra 30 egna bolag samt 5 intressebolag framgångsrika 2021. Vi startade dessutom upp ett nytt bolag i Polen samt ett joint venture i Indien. I dag har koncernen verksamheter i tio länder och tjugo platser i Europa, USA och Asien. Ambitionen är att sätta ner Qgroup-flaggan på många fler platser runtom i världen de kommande åren.
Allt detta bidrar definitivt till Qgroups attraktivitet som arbetsgivare och underlättar rekryteringen av de bästa konsulterna till våra bolag.”

The inventor and tech investor Martin Gren is best known for founding Axis Communications – where he&#8217;s still chairman of the board. Joel Eklund comes from a different background. As owner and chairman of TePe, he has raised the company to become a market leader in dental care products. Now the two successful entrepreneurs are investing in the growing IT consulting company Qgroup.
It feels fantastic that both Martin and Joel will join our journey. They will contribute with their knowledge and competence around the many aspects of entrepreneurship, says Mikael Kretz, co-founder of Qgroup.
Qgroup was founded in 2012 as a consulting company specialized in tailored  IT services. Through rapid growth and smart acquisitions, the company has expanded to 14 locations in 8 different countries and has over 500 employees.

Fredrik Wester is the founder and chairman of the successful Swedish gaming company Paradox Interactive. He is now taking a seat as a board member of Qgroup and at the same time becoming an investor in the growing  IT consulting company. Fredrik will primarily strengthen the competencies regarding questions about the group’s continued rapid growth, acquisitions, and future strategies.
&#8220;It feels fantastic that Fredrik has chosen Qgroup as one of his new commitments, and we’re looking forward to having his expertise on our board,&#8221; says Mikael Kretz, co-founder of Qgroup. In a world where everything changes faster than ever before, it is always tempting to fight hard to maintain the status quo that feels safe. However, something has changed in terms of how business life is working today. We live in turbulent times, which means that it is time to get hold of the best tools available and start using them before your competitors do. I have had the opportunity to meet many consultants, entrepreneurs, and leaders who talk about rebooting themselves or their companies. They are looking for new ways to show their real value to attract new clients, talents, or investors. The paradox is that it is no longer about being the best; it is about being unique.
<h4 class="h4">Aiming For Being The Best In Business Is Overrated</h4>
Many are currently striving to be the best in their business field, but best compared to whom and what? It often ends up with a competition involving high marketing costs. Edward de Bono, the bestselling author of books about creativity and the inventor of lateral thinking, says that we should move beyond the baseline of competition. The choice of running your own race instead of running alongside others could give you a competitive edge over other businesses. This way of thinking goes both for companies and you, as consultants, entrepreneurs, or leaders.
INSEAD professors W. Chan Kim and Renée Mauborgne share the same thoughts in their famous book about Blue Ocean Strategy. Blue oceans are where a market space is new and uncontested, and strategy centers around value innovation. On the other hand, red oceans are where competition is fierce. Their strategy centers around beating rivals, and wins are often zero-sum.
“Jack of all trades is the master of none.” It is a figure of speech that is more important than ever since it deals with the aspiration to be unique and experience the pleasure of becoming genuinely good in your area. It is about challenging mediocrity and focusing on one distinct field that you genuinely enjoy working in, have in-depth expertise, and in which you have the potential of becoming unique. It is where your talents, passion, and commitment to join forces to allow you to achieve something great. It is about leaving behind your desire to be the best and instead deciding to aim for mastery and being unique and compare yourself to no one.
In this new marketplace, you should take every opportunity to find and share the unique things about you and give you a competitive edge. More than ever, knowing your reputation is THE dividing-line since people will hire you or invest in you based on it. It has the potential of taking you to the next professional level.
<h4 class="h4">Individual Reputation Will Be A Dominant Factor</h4>
Five years ago, I met with a global PR company who, in their annual report, predicted that personal reputation would become a dominant factor in the future. I would suggest that we are there now. Leading futurists such as Rachel Botsman talk about a new sharing economy built on reputation and trust. Impressive and hugely successful business leaders and investors like Richard Branson and Warren Buffett say that reputation was the most critical part of their business success.
Most people I have met over the last years agreed upon how important their reputation was to succeed. But it also became clear that they had a very blurry view of what their own reputation looked like or the vast possibilities that it could open up.

These words were recently written in the Gigster Blog, owned by a company based in San Francisco. However, this is not only the case in Silicon Valley &#8211; it is the case everywhere. It is crucial for every company, it is crucial for you and me, and it is a real game-changer. Your reputation is the one thing that everything else in your professional life revolves around. It has the power to make you unique, taking you to a new professional level.
For the last ten years, my drive and commitment have been to find a tool and a complete approach to all the key factors that help you succeed when attracting clients, getting hired, in leadership, and in your professional development. Today, I am confident to suggest that the tool needed is the knowledge of your reputation. It gives you a thorough and trustworthy picture of how your level of expertise, unique qualities, soft skills, performance, and bugs are perceived. We attract clients or get hired based on our unique qualities and the expectations that our reputation sets. The paradox is that those are the same things that we have such a hard time describing reliably. The main reason for it is that we often have only a vague idea of what they are. The second issue is that we are humble. As for the first, you can act upon by getting to know your reputation. The latter is a great skill that you could grow even further, having your reputation as your greatest asset.
Of course, there are many factors with the potential of making you unique, and your reputation is the most interesting. My commitment is to make the Reputation Resumé the most crucial document in your professional life. It is a unique report highlighting how your professional stakeholders perceive your soft skills, level of expertise, experience, performance, and bugs. It indicates your full capacity and what can be expected of you to accomplish.
I meet many people with an inspiring past, but I think it is wise to start focusing on their future pitch. Expectations rule and are the things that make people take notice. You should use the knowledge and power of your reputation to your advantage since it will, over time, make competition irrelevant.
<h4 class="h4">Don&#8217;t Go Blindfolded Into The Future</h4>
If you are not fully aware of your reputation’s content &#8211; both your unique qualities and bugs &#8211; you are actually a bit blind-folded when traveling into your professional future. You will not be successful unless others are valuing you since they are the people that will hire you, promote you, applaud you, and spread your message. A majority of the critical business- or career decisions about you are made when you are not there; the &#8220;only&#8221; thing present is your reputation.
As a consultant, you are your reputation; it should be well known and your best friend. Your clients are primarily looking for three things. First, they are looking for a company that offers the best expertise, understands their problems and needs, sees a profitable solution, and clearly explains it. Secondly, they want the above to be confirmed by the expert&#8217;s reputation. Without that confirmation, the expert will never fulfill the crucial third factor, which is building trust. Your credibility and reputation are what seals a deal.
Let&#8217;s face it: successful companies and exciting jobs will no longer be filled with people sending in their traditional CVs. They will be filled with individuals with excellent reputations built on how they do things. Professional success is no longer about building a CV. It is about building your reputation, creating expectations, and building trust. It is about the quest for becoming unique.
We need the time and courage to explore what might be seen as &#8220;crazy ideas&#8221; because just right before there is a breakthrough, it is only a &#8220;crazy idea.&#8221; Many of them are the forerunners of success. The breakthrough of a lifetime can come from anywhere globally due to new ways of collaborating, technology, and the power of reputation.

Dynabyte has been at the forefront of digital change for almost two decades and has a strong presence in the Stockholm tech market. There is a drive to evolve in their DNA, which is present when it comes to pushing the boundaries for new digital solutions for their customers and having a strong internal learning culture, which stimulates individual growth.
